I began my journey in El Salvador, where I studied architecture and developed a passion for creating spaces that shape the way we live.
After moving to the U.S., I built my professional career in architecture and interior design, refining my approach to design through a deeper understanding of construction, collaboration, and intentional decision-making.
Today, I combine architecture, interior design, and strategic project leadership through my Restorative Design™ Framework—an approach rooted in the belief that a home should do more than reflect your lifestyle; it should actively support the way you live, feel, and thrive.
Whether designing a custom residence or coordinating a project across borders, my goal remains the same: to create environments that are thoughtfully designed around the human experience.

Professional Bio
Mercedes Quintanilla, M.Arch., Assoc. AIA, is a thought leader and design visionary in Restorative Design™. With over 20 years of experience, she has led and collaborated on 100's of design initiatives across residential, workplace, and institutional settings for top-tier executives, department heads, and high-performing teams — spanning institutional projects, private commissions, and cross-border residential projects for clients building in El Salvador.
From leaders like former District Attorney Joyette Holmes to founders, educators, executives, and business owners, her residential and workplace projects have helped elevate clarity, focus, and professional presence in environments that demand excellence.
Mercedes holds dual degrees in Interior Design and Architecture and has invested over 10,000 hours of research and study into human-centered design principles — including biophilia, ergonomics, and sustainability — through well-known organizations like Boston Architectural College, the International Living Future Institute and the WELL Building Institute.
She developed her proprietary Restorative Design™ Framework, which, together with her studio team—personally trained in her approach—helps clients create environments that restore clarity, support well-being, unlock higher performance, and ultimately contribute to a better human experience.
Her work and writing—including over 100 published essays and briefs on the principles behind Restorative Design™—are redefining the role of the environment in leadership and everyday living. She is widely regarded among mission-driven leaders as the go-to expert for bringing exceptional homes and environments to life through intentional design and strategic leadership.
